Colleen Doran's first work on A Distant Soil was first published when she was still in her teens in the 1980's, but she actually created it when she was only 12! She's been one of the most prolific writer/artists in comics ever since, bringing a much-needed woman's touch to this notoriously male-dominated business. I'm happy to showcase her in these pages, where she shows us a rare glimpse at her lovely pencils, which are almost non-existent when she inks herself.

Double page spread pencils from Reign of the Zodiac.

Colleen: Lost Souls issue #7 pencils and inks. As you can see,
as is customary for me, my pencils on work I am inking myself
are almost non-existent. This book isn't out yet.

Colleen: A preliminary character sketch from the graphic novel Stealth Tribes,
by Warren Ellis, to be published next year at Vertigo.

Colleen: A Distant Soil pencils, drawn while I was in high school.
